Screen Time Reduction Project - I'm mostly failing

I am off to a rough start. I've been so tired after I get off work, and the first thing I want to do is lay down and go online. I feel like this blog helps. I don't think it's reasonable to go off-line cold turkey anymore. Not without preparation. I'm not 80. Everything I do now is via a device: banking, communication, reading, event planning, work/lesson planning... there's so much that requires me to be online, then I seek entertainment that way too.

One thing I remember from Vanessa Van Edwards' blog is that in order to be successful at this, one has to have a replacement activity. Hers was going to Alaska. I don't know what mine can be. I am going in for surgery in May. I could definitely go cold turkey then. I would like to reduce my screen time now, though.

This blog might be of worth to me if I created a list of replacement activities that would be a comparable menu to going online. Coming up with a list that is doable in the winter as well as the warmer months is crucial. I hate the cold and it's nothing but cold here. I can usually find lots of replacement activities in the warmer months. I'll list those first:
1. Go for a walk/walk the dog
2. Garden/Yard Work
3. Clean out the Garage and find items to donate to a charitable organization

Those are things I was already doing this summer that I can't do anymore. I could try to walk my dog, but he does what I do when it gets below 40 degrees Fahrenheit...hightail it back into the house. He's too old for me to force him to go out in the cold for longer than a few minutes.

In the winter I still find things to clean and donate to a charitable organization. That takes a few minutes. I think I just need to find things I love to do just as much as I love being indoors and comfortable.
